梨川县文沙场青年关勇波，被梨川县委副政委罗大成从土匪窝里救出来后，参加革命大学学习，成为一名共产党员，毕业后分配回家乡开展清匪反霸革命斗争。。Birdcatcher Esmar and his wife Johanna face eviction from their farm in Gásadalur unless they have a son. Desperation sets in when Johanna gives birth to their third daughter.
